If people regularly stop you to ask if you play basketball or how the weather is up there, then congratulations, you must be tall. While being tall has its perks, like being more attractive and having higher lifetime earnings, there are some downsides as well. They include ceiling fans, cars, mirrors, and worst of all, clothing.
Shirts, pants and pretty much every article of clothing you can think of simply weren’t made for your stature. So what is a tall person to do? You can keep shopping at the big name retailers and hoping for tall sizes, or you can follow these three fashion tips.
Sadly this is only to be done almost exclusively online at the moment. The downside is you can’t try on the clothes first as a result. However you do have a lot of options. If you are big and tall then you can find plenty of shopping sites. If you are lean and tall you can find them too. Brands like DXL and TallSlim Tees cater to men of height.
The key is to simply start looking. There are a lot of specialty retailer online now and you will find someone who makes clothes that fit you in a style you’ll like and a price you can afford.
If there’s anything you are trying to avoid, it’s probably looking taller. Vertical stripes will only enhance your height. A deep v-neck will elongate your neck and make you look taller than you are. These are great tactics for your shorter brethren, but not for you.
Stick with conservative patterns or plain colors or else you might look like wallpaper. And hold on to those tighter necklines, especially if you are a skinnier guy.
The best way to add some depth to your ensemble is through layering. You don’t want to be monochromatic as that is lengthening. Layering is a great way to keep variety in your apparel so as to not draw attention to any one part of you, like how long your legs or arms are.
You already have enough daily struggles with being tall. Don’t let clothing be one of them.
