Samsung has always been amongst one of the companies which thrive to launch the latest of the technologies as soon as possible and provide their customers with the latest of the features before any other company. Once again proving the above-mentioned notion, Samsung has launched its latest QLED television series in the market which they claim to be better than the OLED technology. However, as per the experts, QLED cannot be termed as a completely new technology as it uses the conventional LCD panels and the LED technology only. So the question arises, why is the company trying to create hype about its new series? Let us find out.
The answer to the above-mentioned question lies in the “Q” of QLED which refers to the company’s use of quantum dot technology in their latest series. It comprises of usage of an LED backlight which has been coated with quantum dot nano-filter which is not only capable of reproducing more colors but with increased precision. Moreover, the QLED is also capable of producing really high levels of brightness which might range from 1500 to 2000 nits. Talking about the color precision, QLED can reproduce more than 100% of DCI-P3, which is also the standard color precision used by the Hollywood Movies.
The answer to this question really exists in the personal choices of an individual. If you really want to go for the best HDR quality, then as per Samsung, QLED must be your choice. The latest QLED television also claims to have several dimmable zones which can prevent the issue created in the LCD TVs for reproducing the blacks which can be actually irritable. Moreover, the company has spent huge amounts to produce these dimmable zones; however, it might not be a win over the absolute blacks of an OLED TV but OLED can face the problem of screen burns and screen retention which might not be an issue in the case of QLED.
As we all know that no technology can be perfect and the final decision will always lie to your personal choices but based on the sales, consumers have preferred OLED over QLED, however, if you are a gamer, going for QLED might be a better option as Samsung has been providing a 10 year warranty against screen burns.
